Global warming is a continuous phenomenon and it is not something new that the world is facing. It has been happening since the formation of our Earth. What is alarming now is the rate at which our world is getting warmer. Generally the temperature of the world increases at a slow pace of 1ºC in thousands of years. However, after the advent of the industrial revolution around the year 1850, the world has gotten warmer by more than 1.1ºC.
While the 1.1ºC might look like a small number, the real impact of this temperature rise can only be fathomed if we consider the sheer magnitude of ice and water that the earth holds. The change in the temperature can melt huge swathes of glaciers and ice in the South Pole leading to a rise in sea level around the world. This sudden change in the sea level can sink many large cities around the world.
A steady increase in the carbon dioxide levels in earth’s atmosphere reaching 414.2 parts per million in 2021 is the highest concentration of CO2 during the last 800,000 years. It has caused melting of more than 28 Trillion metric tons of ice in the past 30 years. Apart from these visible effects, the increase in ocean temperature has rendered the sea uninhabitable for many creatures.

Ill-Effects of Global Warming
A projection by the United Nations estimates that more than 140 million people will be displaced by the year 2050. This sudden change puts an undue stress on the global economy too. Incidentally climate change can also impact the financial condition of families. According to one estimate by the World Bank as many as 134 million people are falling back into poverty. Apart from the seemingly large impacts on Human beings, global warming also causes an imbalance in the food chain and equilibrium. If the current trend continues, it will become increasingly hard for the farmers to get a decent yield out of cultivation.
With all these factors coming into play, it will be hard to cater to the needs of the human population. Hunger would increase all around the world and cause widespread disturbances and violence. All these will push our world to the brink of chaos.
The Way Ahead – Our Programme

It is high time that society comes together as one to combat the rising global warming. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, political leaders, scientists, and activists have come together to find ways to combat global warming.
It requires rapid afforestation in the recently deforested areas. It is important to stop further deforestation in ecologically and strategically important locations. In order to achieve the same, we at CSK Global Foundation work towards afforestation.
Our key programme includes providing fruit tree saplings to rural children. We have already provided more than 2000 saplings to children in the Pudukkottai district. These saplings will be taken care of by the school children who get these saplings for free. These fruit trees will be fully grown in the next 5 to 6 years providing a free supply of nutritious fruits to the children and at the same time, provide oxygen and reduce global warming.
This distribution of fruit saplings among school children is one of the key on-going projects of CSK Global Foundation. If you are interested to be a part of this great initiative, please feel free to contact us.
